This new construction interior painting project, completed near the Houghton & Speedway area in Tucson, required careful planning and attention to detail from start to finish. Before applying any coatings, we lightly sprayed the drywall with water to reactivate and lock down any remaining drywall dust, helping create a cleaner surface for primer adhesion. We then thoroughly masked all windows, door jambs, and other finished surfaces to ensure crisp paint lines and complete protection throughout the project. All walls received one coat of Sherwin-Williams PrepRite Premium primer, while the ceilings were finished with two coats for a smooth, uniform appearance. The walls were then sprayed with one coat of Sherwin-Williams Cashmere, providing a rich, even finish ready for the final coat after construction was complete. The interior woodwork, including all doors and door jambs, was stained with Sher-Wood Wiping Stain in Special Walnut (224), followed by two coats of Gemini water-based lacquer for a durable, furniture-quality finish that enhances the natural beauty of the wood while standing up to everyday use. On the exterior, all exposed wood was protected using Total Wood Preservative Total Weather Protection oil-based finish in a Natural color, helping defend against Arizona’s intense sun while highlighting the wood grain. After every trade had completed their work, we returned to apply the final brushed and rolled coat of Sherwin-Williams Cashmere on the walls. Completing the finish coat at the end of construction helps eliminate scuffs, scratches, and touch-ups caused during the building process, leaving the home with a flawless, consistent finish. We completed the project with a thorough cleanup, including mopping the floors, so the home was left clean and ready for its new owners.
